Ugandan comedian Joseph Opio has been nominated for a top American award.
The former LOL host on Urban TV and now The Daily Show writer is nominated in the 68th annual Writers Guild of America (WGA) award for Outstanding Achievement in Comedy/Variety — Talk Series, joining a list of distinguished writers recognized by their peers for creativity and craft.
The Daily Show with Trevor Noah (Comedy Central) writers will compete for the coveted award with writers for other popular TV shows including Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO), Late Night with Seth Meyers (NBC), and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (CBS).
The winners will be crowned on Sunday, February 19, 2017.
