Beyonce and Jay Z

Finally having his say! Jay Z has at last responded to wife Beyoncé’s hit visual album Lemonade in which she tells the story of a woman scorned by an unfaithful lover, widely speculated to be an autobiographical reference to her marriage.

And while the Internet went crazy trying to figure out who “Becky with the good hair” was, Beyonce’s 46-year-old husband has kept himself firmly out of the spotlight. Until now!

Releasing a remix of Fat Joe’s new song “All the Way Up” via Tidal, Jay Z’s opening freestyle rap is a clear reference to his wife’s controversial album, and the furor it’s created around the state of their marriage.

“You know you made it when the fact your marriage made it is worth millions,” he raps. “Lemonade is a popular drink and it still is / Survival of the littlest.”

The rapper also pays tribute to the late artist Prince, whose catalogue is on Tidal (and where, he says, they’ll be forever protected): “Prince left his masters where they safe and sound/We never gonna let the elevator take him down.”

Wait a minute. Elevators? Other than a reference to Prince’s “Let’s Go Crazy” lyrics, that makes Us think of the crazy fight between Jay Z and Bey’s sister, Solange Knowles, after the Met Gala back in 2014. Which creates even more questions than it answers.

But fear not. If, after all this time, Jay Z’s partial response isn’t enough for you, as Us Weekly reported earlier this month, Queen Bey’s hubby is working on an album.

“Jay is working on an album telling his side of things,” a source close to the couple revealed. And the collaborative album that Jay and Bey were working on prior to the Lemonade release, which was shelved due to record label issues, may yet see the light of day.

According to Billboard, the collaboration is still being considered. A Sony source tells the magazine that the record label is “open to” partnering with the duo on such a project.
