Uganda’s music industry is gifted with so much talent and every new dawn brings along a new wave of young musicians. The latest crop of Uganda’s fast rising musicians includes gospel singer Eva Nakamatte.
Eva is a promising Ugandan musician based in the UK who is steadily taking over Uganda’s gospel scene. Despite having lived in the UK for some years now, the 24-year-old musician still essentially sings in Luganda, something that has made her more appealing to the Ugandan audience. It is even argued that she is now Uganda’s best non-secular music export in the Diaspora.
With a rich catalogue of music that includes singles like “Kambikwase Gwe”, “Nyweeza”, “Yegwe”, “Sibwesigwa”, “Miracle” among others, she is also fast putting a strong foothold on the local industry. Her strong vocal abilities and deeply thought lyrics which have become her identity continue to win her more local music fans.
Speaking in a recent interview about her future plans, Eva revealed that she hopes to have released four music albums in the next five years. With such an ambitious plan, it would not be surprising if she is a household name in the local music industry in the near future.
This is testament that Eva Nakamatte is ready to take the mantle while she leads other young gospel singers in taking the industry to the next level as the older musicians like Judith Babirye leave the stage and venture into new ways of ministering.
Meanwhile, Eva recently released a new single titled “Kitonde Kijja” showing gratitude to the Almighty who has turned her life around; raising her from ashes to glory. Watch the video below.
