Sauti Sol hit 1 million followers on Instagram

Kenya’s most popular boy band Sauti Sol has set another Kenyan record by being the first Kenyan musicians to hit one million Instagram followers.

They took to twitter to celebrate the achievement.

“#Goodmorning Apparently we’re the first Kenyan musicians to reach a million legit followers on @instagram. Damn it’s hard outchea.”

Sauti Sol is a band of many firsts, just last month they released the first emoji video for their hit single ‘friendzone’

The group is currently on tour in Germany and Belgium.

Eddy Kenzo working on new music with Saida Karoli

Musician Eddy Kenzo continues to spread his music wings beyond Ugandan borders.

The “Jubilation” star is moving to further entrench himself in the East African market with his latest collaborative efforts. We have learnt that he is working on new music projects with one of Tanzania’s legendary singers.

Kenzo has teamed with traditional singer Saida Karoli on his latest music project. He announced their upcoming collaboration on social media, where he noted that it will be out very soon.

He posted, “New music with MAAMA SAIDA KAROLI from Tanzania. in the market soon.”

Saida Karoli, 41, is famous locally for her single, Maria Salome, which was a smash hit in the early 2000’s.

Musician Prezzo opens up on relationship with his ex-wife and daughter

Popular Kenyan rapper Prezzo had disclosed that he is not in contact with his seven-year-old daughter.

Speaking to Kalekye Mumo, the King of Bling stated that his relationship with his estranged ex-wife Daisy Kiplagat was complicated.

“Marriage life was good because I got a beautiful baby girl out of that. But Daisy loved Jackson Ngechu Makini but hated Prezzo but I couldn’t let go of the brand since I took so long to build it,” stated Prezzo.

Prezzo said that he did not file for the custody of the child and did not want the nasty divorce struggles to hamper his relationship with her in future.

“I never ever went to court to claim (my daughter) because whatever is put on Google will never be erased. I don’t want my daughter to go on Google and see this conflict between her mum and her dad,” said Prezzo.

The rapper added that he was optimistic about the future but noted that he wanted to give Daisy her space.

“It’s complicated. I think Daisy just needs some time to exhale. I would never ever talk ill about Daisy because she is the mother of my child,” he added.

On whether he was violent to Daisy that necessitated the breakup, Prezzo said that he never beat her up.

“There was no violence. She gave birth to a beautiful girl for me so I have never laid my hands on a woman.”

It’s almost 40 days since Tanzanian model and Diamond Platnumz’s rumored side dish, Hamisa Mobetto’s second born came into the world.

Rumors have been all over that Diamond impregnated her but has denied the allegations over and over. Hamisa however fueled the rumours more when she named her son after the singer. After what seemed like forever to her fans, she is finally going to reveal her babies face in a few days.

The socialite is said to be planning a huge unveiling party for her son similar to the ones Diamond and Zari had for their two babies.

Diamond fans cannot wait to finally wait to see Abdul Naseeb’s face so as to determine whether or not he takes after the musician. A few people have called her out for trying to get attention by doing the same thing Diamond did with his children.

Mr Eazi opens up about his struggles starting a music career

Musician Mr Eazi spoke about some difficulties he faced before the spotlight finally found him.

Speaking as a guest on The Beat FM’s Morning Rush,  Mr Eazi said; “After I came back from Ghana, I got a job in oil and gas in Port Harcourt that paid about six thousand dollars per month but I quit because I was not finding fulfillment in it. I mean it was the same thing everyday, the same routine over and over again. The decision to quit the job finally hit me when my boss’ wife left him even with all the money he had.

“After I left my job, I got my Masters degree and with all that qualification I started selling phones in computer village and everyone thought something was wrong with me. Even my mother started praying special prayers for me but my father didn’t add that final voice that would have decided my fate.

“My break finally came after I got an invite to do two shows in London that made me twelve thousand pounds which I used to shoot two videos. When I told my mother what I did with the money she stopped talking to me for about three weeks. I had to move in with a friend because even my relatives didn’t want me around but everything finally changed when I went back to London for shows that fetched me really good money.”

The ‘Leg Over’ crooner also revealed that he charges N10million for shows and admitted to being in a relationship with Temi Otedola who is the daughter of billionaire Femi Otedola.

Ludacris turns 40

Rapper/actor Ludacris rang in his 40th birthday in style with a masquerade ball in France.

The Fate of the Furious star has been partying with his friends and family in Europe for the past week, after his wife Eudoxie Mbouguiengue rented a chateau for the group to celebrate in.

Ludacris has been sharing photos of his extravagant trip with fans on Instagram, revealing they also enjoyed a few days in Paris, before heading to an historic residence in Bouville in Northern France for another big bash on Sunday night (10-Sep-17) as he rang in his birthday on Monday (11-Sep-17).

He has since posted new images on social media, showing off the elaborate masks he and his guests donned for the glamorous black tie gala.

Among the stars featured in the pictures were fellow rapper Jeezy and actor Larenz Tate.

He also posted snaps of himself and Eudoxie posing with their masks while wearing red velvet capes, while others showed the birthday boy wearing a crown as he toasted the occasion and stood beside a towering cake.

The African Gala Vienna 2017 was a culmination of the tireless efforts of the African Diaspora and the African Missions in Vienna, to bring the African Diaspora in Vienna together. It provided an opportunity for African Ambassadors and Permanent Representatives, their staff and members of the diplomatic corps in Vienna to interact with members of their Diaspora.

The Gala event was the first of its kind in Vienna. It consisted of several activities, which included a panel discussion on cancer entitled, “building blocks towards cancer prevention and treatment in Africa”. In addition to this, it provided an opportunity for guests to sample African delicacies and enjoy music performances by African Artists.

The highlight of the evening, was a performance by Ugandan artiste, Angella Katatumba, who was accorded Superstar treatment by being flown in from Uganda specifically for this event and was even dropped off for her performance in a RollsRoyce.

The event was intended to create awareness about contemporary issues that affect the African Continent and also to entertain.

Ambassador S. M. Gitonga/Deputy Permanent Representative of the Embassy/Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kenya to the UN and the International Organisations in Vienna, was the initiator and main organizer of the African Gala. Ambassador Gitonga dedicated the show to the Late H.E. Prof. Boney Katatumba, Angella’s father who was a great friend of his.

Present at the event was the chair of the African Group H.E. Amb. Maria de Jesus Ferreira, Ambassador of Angola. H.E. Amb. Oyugi of Kenya & the Executive Secretary CTBTO, H.E. Mr. Lazina Zerbo amongst others.

After her excellent and captivating performance, it was announced at the event by UN Executives who attended, that Angella has been invited by the UN for another performance in Austria in February 2018.

Singer Kalifah Aganaga and producer Nash Wonder appear to have ended their beef.

Aganaga who was earlier reported to have fallen out with the then Monster studio producer Nash Wonder is back to working terms with the producer. They recently worked together on a new project titled “Waguan”.

Reports indicate that the two have become so close that Nash Wonder is now part of the artiste’s new management team. Nash Wonder seems to have assumed Emma Carlos’ roles since Emma was relieved of his duties.

Waguan is the singer’s latest efforts to penetrate international market, according to his new management. “We have started on a new journey to explore new market and Waguan is the first song in that direction,” management told us.

Meanwhile, Aganaga is reportedly planning a charity concert in his home town slated for 3rd December.

Spenah Beach is steadily gaining its momentum.

The beach, which re-opened after being revamped at the start of the year under new management, has been revived and is again slowly turning into the place to be for beach lovers.

This was evident last Saturday as the beach was bursting with activity. It attracted hordes of revelers who reveled in the cool breeze afforded by the beach.

They also enjoyed good food and music played by a line up of top deejays including Deejay Starboy and Ed Weezy.

Veteran singer Shanks Vivie D, who was famous in the 90’s is making a comeback. The singer who rocked the late 90s along the likes of José Chameleone is back with a new club banger titled “Kisambi”.

According to his manager, the new song is intended to re-introduce him to the local masses as he prepares to follow it up with several other songs. “We are working on a comeback and this is just one of the many songs coming soon,” the manager told us.

In the new song, Shanks exhibits his still excellent dancing moves that will endear him to the masses.

Kisambi audio was recorded by Paddy Man of Audio One and video shot by Saint Jude.

BBS Terefayina CEO, Joe Kigozi has quit the station.

We have learnt that he is leaving the Buganda-owned TV station to join a rival station.

According to our sources, Joe Kigozi has today handed in his resignation and is set to return to NBS TV. He is said to be reuniting with former boss and mentor, Kin Kariisa as the Chief of Strategy.

“They tried to entice him with new juicy offers, but his mind had been made up. He just wanted to leave,” our source relayed.

Meanwhile, Kigozi had previously served at NBS TV for five years until 2015 when he resigned to take the helm of BBS Terafayina. During his time at NBS TV, he served as both Marketing Manager and 4-4-2 presenter. He now returns in a bigger role as second in command.

Mr Eazi arrives in Uganda ahead of the “Naija to Kampala” concert

The highly anticipated “Naija to Kampala” concert is on!

We have learnt that one of the headlining acts, Nigerian star Mr Eazi has already touched down on Ugandan soil. The “Leg Over” hitmaker arrived on Wednesday evening ahead of the big show this Friday.

Mr Eazi will entertain his fans in Uganda alongside fellow Nigerian singer, Tekno who is also expected to jet in on Thursday evening.

There will also be performances from several top local acts including, Bebe Cool, Ykee Benda, Bruno K and Sheebah Karungi among others.

Organised by Bell Lager in partnership with Talent Africa and Silk Events, the concert will be held on Friday, September 15 at Lugogo Cricket Oval.

Tickets are on sale at UGX35K (ordinary) and UGX100K (VIP).

ABS TV is back on the airwaves!

We have learnt that  Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has lifted the suspension on the Pastor Yiga owned TV station.

This follows negotiations between the regulator and the station’s management that saw the station given a second chance. The suspension has been lifted on a six-month probation during which period UCC will evaluate and continuously monitor all programs and content broadcast to ensure they are in line with the law and also meet the minimum broadcasting standards.

UCC had recently revoked ABS TV’s broadcasting license for repeatedly breaching the law and the minimum broadcasting standards. This after the TV station shocked the nation with a sensual news program. It had also previously come under fire for its controversial show, Kalondozi, where UCC slapped it with a fine of Ugx 25 Million.

Bobi Wine has no kind words for NRM MPs who recently resolved to remove the Presidential Age Limit.

On Tuesday, NRM MPs passed a resolution to move a motion in Parliament to amend the Constitution and remove the upper age cap on presidency which is currently at 75 years, allowing President Museveni, 73, to stand again in the 2021 general elections.

In a statement shared on social media, the singer turned MP labelled the NRM MPs traitors who have “sold your conscience for cheap”. He further noted that they have “put your names on the national wall of SHAME”.

The “Twatoba” singer decided to fight fire with fire after an online user attacked him on Twitter.

When a one Delah took to twitter to state that Pallaso’s upcoming concert would flop, it did not sit well with the singer who blasted the female fan saying she is “an ugly piece of s**t”.

In another tweet, Pallaso told the fan to suck his d**K.

He tweeted:

Former Tanzanian beauty queen Wema Sepetu is one lass we can say has dated a lot of celebrities. Her most recent boyfriend was big brother-winner-cum comedian Idris Sultan.

The two dated for months and later broke up, citing irreconcilable differences. Idris has now come out to say he was the one who dumped Sepetu, but it was not an easy decision.

He says Sepetu broke his heart many times and he decided to walk out of the relationship, and it took him six months to get her off his mind.

He went on to tell the Tanzanian-based site, Dizzim Online that he got involved with more than 30 women to get Sepetu out of his system.

“When I was trying to get her out of my mind, I slept with or dated more than 30 women. Honestly. So I grew up!” He said.

It seems everyone who has dated this Tanzanian lass finds it hard to get her out of his mind. Diamond, who also dated Sepetu, said that it took him long for him to get over her. He said when he was with Zari, he still had a soft spot for the beauty queen.

So, why is this so? “She is a very beautiful-hearted person.” Idris said.
