Anne Kansiime and hubby Gerald Ojok
By Our Reporter
In 2013, Gerald Ojok drove all the way to Anne Kansiime’s home in Kabale where the two were officially married in a traditional ceremony. It was a union of an Acholi man and a Mukiga woman. It was not just a marriage of two people, it was a marriage of two tribes and two separate regions.
In 2016, BigEyeUG broke the story when the first signs of a marriage break-up had begun to show. This had mainly been attributed to Kansiime’s busy career where she had been unable to find time for her man.
Nonetheless, the families spoke sense to the couple and the two got back together. But now, it seems Ojok finally gave out and the two have gone separate ways. It all started when Kansiime built her Kansiime Backpackers at Lake Bunyonyi. As such, Kansiime started spending most of her time in Kabale and less time in Kampala.
Ojok who had already complained that he was tired of eating the maid’s food everyday was now complaining of ‘long time no see’ when it came to his wife. The Kyambogo University employee would take weeks, sometimes even a month without seeing Kansiime. “The few days Kansiime would come to Kampala, she would be packing up her clothes for a gig outside the country. She was either on the plane or in Kabale,” a friend to the couple tells us.
All of a sudden, rumours begun circulating that Ojok was cheating on Kansiime. This infuriated the Ninja causing her to separate bedrooms and opt for the guest’s bedroom whenever she was in Kampala. Ojok on the other hand was dealing with endless questions from his family that kept asking for a child. “Honestly, the family said that it was coming to five years and there was no child in the marriage and Ojok was not getting any younger. They wondered whether Kansiime was just childless or was just not interested in giving Ojok a child,” a friend further narrates.
One unfortunate day, Ojok landed on some paper evidence of his wife being on contraceptives. He was in shock. Ojok could not believe that all along Kansiime had intentionally just denied him an offspring. Did she not trust him? Had she chosen a great career over her marriage? It is then that he confronted Africa’s queen of comedy and all hell broke loose.
According to their neighbours, Kansiime kept telling Ojok; “you are not the man I got married to. I don’t think I still feel the same way I felt about this marriage. I need some soul-searching.” The black chocolate as Kansiime prefers to call him went mad and hinted that Anne’s over reliance on contraceptives could have been the cause of the miscarriage. It was a straw breaker. Anne broke down in tears, something that is very uncommon among Bakiga.
As such Ojok’s marriage has become a joke. Although once in a while, Kansiime may post a photo of Ojok, to many friends, all this had become a disguise tactic for a marriage that is no more. Although the two once in a while meet at their Kampala house, it is not the same love in the air. Ojok says he can’t stand going to Kabale and managing the backpackers as he says it makes it look as if it’s Kansiime that married him.

Fashion lovers and enthusiasts were treated to an evening of fashion showcases inspired by Uganda’s culture and heritage on Friday. This was at the invite-only Black Creations fashion show which was hosted at Imperial Royale Hotel.
The event was held in partnership with the Presidential Initiative on Skilling the Girl Child Project to officially launch the Black Creations Collection clothing line in Uganda.
Held under the theme, “Uganda’s Fashion Renaissance”, models showcased different designs which included Brand Uganda collection (inspired by Uganda’s colours and culture), Ready to wear collection (inspired by Uganda’s flora), and corporate collection (inspired by Uganda’s business community) among others.
In his remarks, Dr. Joseph Tonye Brown, the brains behind the Black Creations Collection, revealed that the collection is aimed at spearheading Pan Africanism not only in Uganda but on the entire African continent and overseas by telling the African story through fashion.
He further noted that this is in line with the President’s deliberate efforts to encourage patriotism through the “Buy Uganda, Build Uganda” ideology.
During the event, guests were also treated to entertainment from Kenneth Mugabi, Lillian Mbabazi and Sandra Suubi among others in-between the showcases.
The fashion show was hosted by Malaika Nnyanzi and Roger Mugisha.

As he kicked off a campaign to the second season of his one-man show dubbed “Man From Ombokolo”, comedian Patrick Salvado Idringi, together with his team, visited Home of Hope, a centre for children with severe or multiple disabilities in Jinja.
It was not the first time Salvado and his team were visiting the underprivileged children; but on this particular visit, Salvado and friends made an announcement that could make a change for the kids.
The comedian and friends announced that they would donate part of the proceeds from the show to the home.
“We’ve been to the home more over four times, and we have donated each time we’ve visited. And we noticed that in addition to feeding, the children have special needs such as daily medication, additional staff for significant care plus therapists to help the children improve physically, and eventually a clinic since the children are at times denied medication in certain hospitals,” Salvado told us.
The comedian told us that for every ticket purchased, a percentage will go to supporting the Home of Hope!
“I also urge all my friends and fans that are looking forward to attend my show, to carry something for the Home of Hope. Everything counts, even if its 1k.” Salvado added.
The Singleton sponsored Man From Ombokolo 2 is slated for, Friday October 27 at Imperial Royale Hotel. Entrance is Shs100,000 per head and Shs3m for a table!
