Miss Uganda Leah Kagasa has stayed clear of the glitz and glamour life that comes with being a beauty queen.

The beauty queen, who graduated with a Bachelors Degree of Science in Marketing from Makerere University early this year, has revealed that she is too broke to afford this lifestyle, adding that is why she always never attends social events.

Speaking in an interview with Sqoop, Leah Kagasa revealed that she does not have the money to buy expensive dresses and shoes for all the social events around town. She further noted that she is expected to maintain appearances of a model at such events which all requires a lot of money she does not have.

She blamed her brokenness on lack of funding from government and the Miss Uganda foundation. “There was no sponsorship this year unlike previous years,” she explained.

Local songstress Spice Diana is set to finally release her much-anticipated “Tokombako” video.

Spice Diana will unveil her brand new video at a mega show that will be held at Club Ambiance late this month.

She has expressed excitement about the video premiere, noting that it will be a one of a kind experience.

“I cant wait to share the joy and happiness with you my fans. Come experience a video premier of another kind,” she said.

The video premiere is slated for Friday, April 28 and will be graced by other artistes including StarBoss Big Eye, Victor Kamenyo and Feffe Bussi among others.

She won a grand slam while pregnant, so it is perhaps no surprise that Serena Williams aims to return to tennis next year and become a grand slam-winning mom.

The tennis great announced Wednesday that she and fiancé Alexis Ohanian are expecting their first child “this fall.”
Williams, 35, posted a side profile shot of herself in a yellow swimsuit on Snapchat with a caption that read “20 weeks” before deleting it.

A spokesperson for the tennis player later confirmed the American was pregnant.

If Williams’ 20-weeks post was accurate, it would suggest she was about eight weeks pregnant when she won the Australian Open in January.

While Williams will not play again in 2017, meaning she will miss the year’s remaining three grand slams — the French Open, Wimbledon and US Open — her publicist did say she would return to the tour in 2018.

Williams has not played since winning her 23rd grand slam in Melbourne, withdrawing from the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells, California, and the Miami Open citing a knee injury.

Williams, who is second only to Margaret Court on the list of women’s all-time grand slam singles titles, has received congratulatory messages from around the world.

Former world No.1 Andy Roddick tweeted: “There’s gonna be a baby GOAT… We are so happy and we know @serenawilliams will be a great mother.”

Christ Evert, 18-time grand slam winner, said it was a “very special year ahead” for Williams.

Steve Simon, Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) chief executive, said: “We’re excited for Serena. This is wonderful news and we wish her the very best. We’ll look forward to seeing her when she’s back competing again.”

Williams’ latest news comes after she surprised fans in December by announcing her engagement to Ohanian, Reddit’s co-founder. The pair had kept their romance out of the spotlight.

She had alerted the world of her impending nuptials on Reddit, with tech entrepreneur Ohanian posting on his Facebook page, linking to her Reddit post and adding: “She said yes.”

The late Penny Tinditina with her husband Alex Jakana

Former Radio One news anchor, Penny Tinditina has passed on.

Penny is said to have succumbed to lung cancer on Wednesday after battling it for over a year.

She passed away in the US where she has been living with her husband Alax Jakana, who currently works with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Many of her former colleagues and friends who have taken to social media to mourn her described Tinditina as a sweet, calm, and kind lady.

A Penny Jakana memorial fund has since been created on Gofundme.com to raise funds to return her body to Uganda. “We would like to support our dear friend financially by contributing towards her funeral in Uganda. All funds raised will go directly to Alex Jakana. Thank you for your generosity and God bless you big as we stand together with the family,” reads part of the message on the website.

Tinditina,  who worked as a news anchor on both UBC and Radio One in the early 2000s, is survived by 3 children.

Golden Band’s Ronald Mayinja entertains revelers at one of their past concerts.

Rival bands, Da Nu Eagles and Golden band are set to share the same stage.

The two bands, whose top singers can not see eye to eye, will entertain fans at a concert being organised by BBS Telefayina to celebrate its first anniversary.

During a press conference which was held at the station’s headquarters, the station CEO said that the fans are going to see something that has never happened ever since the two groups separated.

He further noted that the two bands are going to share the same stage with two other bands making it four bands performing on one stage.

The show is going to also feature several other Ugandan top artistes like Sheebah, King Saha, Victor Kamenyo, Da Agent and many others.

The concert will take place on the 22nd April, 2017 at Maria Flo hotel in Masaka.

Local media personality Malaika Nnyanzi has scooped a juicy deal in Namibia.

We have learnt that the KFM radio presenter will cover the road to the 7th edition of Namibian Annual Music Awards (NAMAs) and also host the blue carpet at the award gala.

She will be covering the ceremony on behalf of Rockstar Television.

Malaika, who has already arrived in the Namibian capital, Windhoek, could not hide her excitement about the deal, noting that some experiences can not be explained.

Ugandan artistes are not creative, at least according to musician Geosteady.

The “Owooma” singer has revealed that the local music industry is still lagging behind on the African continent because musicians are reluctant to explore new music styles.

He made the remarks while speaking about his recent music tour in South Africa. “Our music is not played in South African nightclubs,” he said. “I hang out in different nightclubs but not even one Ugandan song was played.”

Geosteady further went on to add that Ugandan music sounds the same to foreigners.

“Ugandan music all sounds the same,” he explained. “Artistes are not creative. Most singers usually ask producers to make a beat he has heard somewhere and  do not allow producers to exercise their creativity.”

He concluded noting that musicians need to be more creative to be able compete more favorably on the continent.

Nigerian female pop star, Tiwa Savage’s estranged husband Tunji Balogun popularly known as Teebillz has expressed his regrets.

Teebillz revealed that if he could turn back the hands of time, he would not do an elaborate wedding.

He said the belief that men should always dominate every aspect of the marriage was incorrect.

Teebillz was speaking as a panelist at “Mind the Gap X”, a love and relationship class for single, married and divorced people organised by Pastor Wale Adefarasin and life coach, Lanre Olusola.

According to him, “If I have the chance of doing my marriage over again, l will put God first and not have an elaborate wedding.

“It’s the 21st century and as men, most of us want to live like we are the lords of the marriage.

Following the completion of the Big Brother Naija reality TV show, the dust is yet to settle as regards the sexual molestation case against Tokunbo ‘TBoss’ Idowu which led to the disqualification and eviction of fellow housemate, Kemen.

Following the joke made by comedian AY Makun and Helen Paul which sparked social media reactions, the victim of the sexual assault case, Tboss has issued a statement with regards to the case.

Tboss took to her Instagram page to share videos in which she thanked Nigerians for their continued support adding that she is ready to promote and uphold values she holds dear.

She said: “First of all, I will like to thank everyone who supported me in my Big Brother Naija journey. I’m beyond grateful for your time and the immense efforts and resources to get me to the Top 3. It has been a big adjustment for me coming back home to Nigeria concerning the attention my participation in the show attracted. Tanzanian musician Ray C has once again publicly admitted that she has a huge crush on President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The mellow-voiced lass was a guest on Radio Citizen’s Mambo Mseto on Wednesday where she expressed her desire to meet Kenya’s president and talk about a number of things.

But that’s not all. Ray C, who has been struggling with drug addiction for many years, also revealed that she becomes helpless someone mentions Uhuru’s name.

“If you just mention the name Uhuru Kenyatta, I become helpless,” she said as quoted by Edaily.

When pressed by Willy M. Tuva – the host of the show – to explain what would happen when she finally meets the him, the ‘Mama Nitilie’ hit maker said she’d ask him out.

Sauti Sol’s tour bus belonging to Modern coast company limited was on Wednesday involved in a fatal road accident near Malindi airport leaving one dead (the driver of the bus) and two injured.

The bus was en route Nairobi from Malindi when the accident happened. According to reports, the bus crashed into a stationary truck which had been involved in another accident with a tuk tuk.

“Our bus from Malindi to Nairobi Reg: KCF 614u has been involved in an accident near Malindi airport. The accident that has happened near Malindi airport was fatal and 2 casualties rushed to Malindi district hospital. The two casualties who were passengers are out of danger and we wish them quick recovery. And we mourn with family and friends of the departed soul. Our bus hit a stationary lorry which had been involved in another accident with a tuk tuk,” reads part of a statement released by management.

Upcoming singer Elysha Mutebi is charting new waters after quitting singing in a band to pursue a solo music career recently.

The singer started doing music professionally in 2014 after he joined S&S band. However, after singing in the band for two years, the singer and pianist decided to quit and pursue a career as a solo artiste and is now looking to take his place in the industry.

“In 2014, I officially started doing active music after I joined a band called S&S band. And we have been performing live band music at different events and bars in town,” he revealed. “But I quit to start doing my own music and compositions late last year.”

“I draw my inspiration from everyday life and hope to make a name for myself in the local music industry,” he added.

The 24-year-old singer, who says his music is a fusion of Afrobeat and Afrojazz, released his debut single dubbed “Amio” a few weeks back.
